The door between the worlds was open.

I do not know when they pushed the Hound through, but when I looked down he was stretched at my feet, on his face a look of deep repose. He turned his head toward me; no recognition was in his eyes. He did not rise. Fear moved through me, deep and cold. I leaned above him.
